Grounded in Organic Chemistry
Brent Thomas, CEO and co-founder of Tepi Naturals, remains inspired by his father, Steve, and his experience in the coffee industry. It was while Steve was selling roasted coffee to a large company that was grinding and producing coffee scrubs that he became intrigued by the possibility of untapped opportunities in the coffee world. With the help of a chemist, Steve went on to discover the benefits of coffee silverskin, which includes its anti-inflammatory properties.
Brent was in college when he discovered his passion for chemistry. He liked the clarity and structure of chemistry. He earned his bachelor’s degree in the subject from California State University, Fullerton, and a master’s degree in organic chemistry from San Diego State University.
Later, Brent would work for a biotech company. It remained during this time that he decided he was no longer interested in building up another company, but in founding his own. His father shared the studies on coffee silverskin, and Brent decided to create his own company, Tepi Naturals, that remain rooted in his family history and fulfilled his desire to create clean, healthy, and non-toxic skincare.
