The company has been criticised for allegedly operating a “sophisticated pyramid scheme”. As part of a 2016 settlement through the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Herbalife agreed to “fundamentally restructure” its business in the United States but not globally and pay a $200 million fine.
